AMUMA is sweet 16! On July 5, 2019, AMUMA marked its 16 years in service and camaraderie. The occasion was celebrated with a solemn mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
The following Saturday, the group held the main celebration which started, with a motorcade around main streets in the City that ended at Our Lady of the Assumption church along Torres Street. There, the group made confession and meditation followed with the consecration of the mass. The group, then, proceeded to Cafe Demitasse where the congregation had dinner and party.
The gathering was injected with inspiration from one of the founding members, a past president, and present member of the Board of Directors, Ms Bella Sarenas. Her talk centered on the topic of prayer—“Why I Pray”– a talk, which is relevant to the group’s nature.
The anniversary celebration was made entertaining and fun by the show of talents of AMUMA members. Four production numbers were presented. One by Central Cluster, led by its P.R.O, Ms Grace Linda Carriedo; another by North Cluster, led by its P.R.O. Ms Maria Cristina Mallorca-Cancio; and one from the South Cluster, led by Mr. Allan Mark Oliver Capulong. A special number by a student from a University was also shown, courtesy of Mr. Romeo Reyes.
From among the numbers presented, the South Cluster’s presentation of chair dance fitness won the approval of the judges.
The anniversary was graced by a Tawag ng Tanghalan contender, Davao Talent, Nico Tiu.
At the event, AMUMA also outlined some plans of the group for the year. One of which, is the Urban Container Gardening Seminar Workshop with Mr. Perfecto “Jojo” Rom on July 20, 2019. The other is the raffle draw which prizes would be holiday vacation to Hong Kong, Boracay, and Siargao.
The activity culminated with a party through the remaining of the night.
